BELLFLOWER, Calif. (June 14, 2019)SteelCraft Bellflower, the 15,000 SF craft food and drink gathering space in Downtown Bellflower held its Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, June 13th, 2019. Complete with the ring of cowbells and heartfelt acknowledgments from SteelCraft founder, Kim Gros to all nine vendors, the community eagerly welcomed the small businesses into their home.

All the vendors at SteelCraft Bellflower (Ten Mile Brewing, Off Duty Wine Bar, Long Beach Creamery, Solid Coffee Roasters, Fritzi Coop, Pholanthropy, PRIME by Shenandoah, Cassidy’s Corner, and The Standing Room) are open for business and celebrating Grand Opening Weekend.

The sophisticated development made with 14 repurposed shipping containers was made possible by Gros; Partner and builder-developer, Martin Howard of Howard CDM; and the City of Bellflower’s esteemed Economic Development department, the City Council, and staff.

“I’ve been here 5 out of 6 of the past nights! I can enjoy a delicious meal with my husband, watch the game, and see my kids enjoying the space, running around in the kids’ area,” shared Gros. “I truly could not have done it without Martin and Howard CDM as my partner. They took a chance on a dreamer and I get to continue to dream and make places beautiful.”

Mayor Sonny Santa Ines echoed Gros’s sentiments and highlighted how impactful small businesses are for the Bellflower community.

“Over the past year, our community has pardoned the dust on the boulevard and patiently awaited the grand opening of SteelCraft. Frequent posts on social media have kept residents following this transformative project and attracted new interest from regional developers,” Mayor Santa Ines shared, “Howard CDM’s investment into the City of Bellflower shows that our community is moving in the right direction. The welcoming courtyard and variety of craft-food choices is fast-becoming Downtown Bellflower’s newest hangout for families and pets.”

Over 2,000 guests dined in the space during SteelCraft Bellflower’s soft opening weekend. The parabolic wooden shade structure reminiscent of Bellflower’s rich dairy roots, the soon-to-be-named cow, the Bellefleur apple blossom-inspired mural, and the kids running around on mini hills, all add to the neighborhood charm.

Howard sang the praises of his team and shared nothing but gratitude for the new space in Bellflower.

“We always collaborate and seek out ways to fulfill our vision of craft, community, and restoration. Beat up shipping containers are a piece of that—but our team continues to push each other to make the space better and better. Everyone from the construction side, to my SteelCraft team, to our architectural partner, Studio One Eleven, and our kitchen designer, Turpin Design Group—everyone has an important role in driving SteelCraft to evolve,” said Howard.
